Betta Tank mates

Does anyone know what other fish are somewhat more compatible with bettas in a community tank?
Does anyone know if Mollies in the same tank as Bettas is a good idea?

I would say that bettas prefer a tank on their own, without other fish.

they really do - a lonely betta is a happy betta and mollies would be a bad choice because they need salt in the water to reallt be healthy.

white clouds are cool with bettas usually.. dont need heated water and dont offend the bettas as they arent a bright color

the are ok in freshwater... they just like salt... if you dont give them salt they are just more prone to disease... you can keep mollies with bettas if you have a big enough tank and some places for them to hide...

bettas dont mind salt so you can still add salt if you want

i always put a bit of salt in with my betttas they're doing great bettas prefer to be alone their weird tthat way but it i better to get them their own space or if you only have 1 tank maybe try using a divider

I think female bettas are generally okay with other community fish. I've ~8 female bettas in my 50 gal community tank. They get along well with my other fish (incl angels, tetras, cherry barbs, rainbows). Sometimes the female bettas do chase around. But if you have enough hiding place for them it'll be fine.

For male bettas, since their tails are big, they are slow swimmers (compare to their tankmates). Their big tails will also attract other active small fish to nip them. One other concern is that betta (esp male betta) are not as 'greedy' as the other fish. So when you put him in a community tank, the other fish may get his food before he can get it.

I see...so that would mean that ideally, if you want to put bettas into a community tank, they should be females...thanks!
