For those people out there keeping bettas in bowls, here's a tip for making water changes easy:

Try using a turkey baster that you can buy at any grocery store for doing your water changes. It's simple and eliminates any mess.

Not a bad idea. I use one now for removing crap at the bottom of my fry tanks (like dead bodies )

I have also used it for moving fry from one tank to another, when they were still small.

I use one for light cleaning on my substrate from time to time, but for a 100% water change on bowls (which should be done at least weekly), how do you get all the water out with one?

I use one to blast crud off of java moss or other leaves sometimes. Supposedly they're good for catching fry, too.

I don't think turkey basters are as common in the UK. It's a piece of kitchen equipment that's like an oversized pipette. It has a long tube and a rubber bulb on the end. You might be able to find one in the supermarket or in a kitchen supply shop.
