betta vs. moore

Hey guys,

i have a Black Moore Gold Fish and a medium sized Male Betta who are supposidly 'compatible' and they are fighting.... WTF man, WTF!!! They are in a 10 gallon aruarium so i know its big enough for them. any suggestions?

first of all, the ten gallon is not big enough for just the moor. and seond- in terms of basic needs, bettas and goldfish are not compatible. they have different temperature needs and goldfish are very messy. as for the fighting, bettas seen to percieve anything with comparable finnage or coloring as a threat, as another betta in their territory basically. I would encourage you to separate them, either find the moor a home or an appropriate tank, and get the betta a heater.

Bettas and goldfish (any) are not compatible. They need different water conditions (temp), different filtration, different foods.

Bettas will fight with long-finned fish for territory.

I suggest returning that black moore and getting 4 or 5 cory cats, which are about the only good mix for bettas.
