betta water changes ??

I have already used the site search to find the answer to my question. Forgive me if I missed it.

Just got a new betta. Have not had bettas before. He is in a 5 gal bow front tank.

How much and how often should water be change?

I change around 40% a week on my 5g. I am assuming there is filtration in his tank, if not, you would be better doing changes twice a week. Make sure the tank is heated

Yes, the tank has the small whisper HOB and a heater.

You can give him a 100% water change whenever the tank needs it. It's not going to hurt him. Just be sure to condition the water first and use tap water, never distilled. They are very hearty fish. I give my male and female a complete water change every week.

I do like 50% water changes once a week in my 2.5gallon (has a self built internal filter i made) whenever i water change my 5 gallon cardinal tank. the betta and my cardinal's are still alive since may last year. everyone's happy!
