I am getting my betta and harlequins when my tank finishes cycling. I read somewhere that the harlequin rasboras like soft acidic water. What do bettas like? I haven't tested my pH yet, need to get my test kit soon. But I want to make sure that i can get a good water condition so that i won't have to mess with it when my fish are in there.

Bettas can be in 7.0-8.0 ph. They pretty much adapt to their surroundings. I don't mess with ph at all, and I have had no deaths from ph or any other water chemistry problems.

harlequins do like softer water but dont need it imo...i've had mine for almost a year now in 7.8 and they are very healthy and colorful

bettas like said above can adjust to a wide range of ph

most regular freshwater fish can do well in any ph 6.5-8.5 provided its stable
