Can you put a Betta (male) in an aquarium (filter & heater) with other species of fish. If so what kinds of fish?

i think you can just not any fish that is too colorful, if i'm wrong please correct me

Guppies, Gouramies, Angelfish, and other slow-moving long tailed/finned fish that may look to the betta like another betta, you should avoid. Bright colors are also something to avoid( like my Rainbow sharks, when they lived with a betta, he didnt like them too much)

I dont reccomend it with male bettas, Too many variables plus males don't like other fish.

males bettas like to go solo, and a 10g with some mollies and platties i wouldnt worry about adding more fish, b/c they will probably breed anyways

Male bettas don't want, need, or really like "other fish"...if you want a betta, get him his own tank...they are the most conmfortable that way.

i wouldnt. after i took reagan out of the 10 gallon and into his own tank i saw him make his first bubble nest.

Depends on the personality of the betta. I've kept a male betta with small schooling tetras in a ten gallon, and he left the tetras alone, and the tetras left his tail alone.

It really does depend on the betta. Most of the time they don't mind company, although like someone else said, they'll only build bubblenests and such when by themselves or when they spot a female. It all depends on the individual betta. No one can generalize their temperment either way, although having them alone is the safest route. They don't mind colorful fish, but avoid keeping them with fin nipping fish and hyperactive fish (unless there is enough room for the betta to hang out in a peaceful area). Keep in mind that most fish require/thrive with an air pump. Bettas don't like too much water current, as they are not strong swimmers, so this is also something to consider. Another big thing is food. Bettas are meat eating fish, needing more protein (45%+) than vegetable matter. The meaty foods tend to be a favorite among most fish, and they'll eat it before the bettas have a chance to notice the food. Just a few things to consider..

I'd say try it,like people said here,I depends on the betta. Try it but watch him very closely.
