Yes. They'll get used to a little 5-10g filter after a while (it takes a while since their muscles aren't very strong in those little cups). In a bigger tank, you just have to make sure there's an area in the tank that is somewhat sheltered from the current, so they can escape the current from a more powerful filter.

I'd say that if you look at the long, flowing fins of a fancy betta, it's pretty obvious that they're not going to be the best swimmers. So, too much flow will be bad for them.

If you're dealing with short-finned bettas, it shouldn't be such a problem.

i have problem with my short-finned bettas,he cant stand the current so he always being stuck in the sucking tube,ive changed him to a 5g tank,and he seems to be 500% more happier then last time.

i had trouble with one of mine , it was to strong for him . i didn't know i could adjust the filter and it was up as high as it would go . i finally seen i could adjust it and now have it turned all the way down they love it . i have several tanks like that . good luck
