i recently tried puttin my betta in my 50 gallon tank with my cories..after an hour or so he started showing signs of weakness and poor coloration i took him out and put him back in his tank. What could be causing this? is it bad to have betta's in large tanks?

no, bettas can be in a million gallon tank and be fine. how did u aclimate the betta to the bigger tank? and what other fish are in the 50 g?? main thing to look for is a big ph change in tanks. thats probably the biggest thing in aclimating them to the new tank is getting them used to the ph so they dont go into shock. try getting the water conditions to be as close as possible then try again.

i would put the betta in a bag with a little water from its old tank and set the bag in the new tank to get the temp. to match as close as u can, then every 20-30 pour a little water from the 50 g into the bag with the betta in it. finally when the bag is pretty full scoop the betta out and put him in the new tank. good luck!!
