my betta didn't have any problem with my other fish in the tank.
he just kinda 'visit' them one by one, and once he found out they're not betta, he is not flaring at them anymore. He's a good boy! :)
If you're worried, then just put the betta in another container while you cleaning the tank.

Betta might kill a guppie, depends on the betta. I agree with Alexa, don't mix them, just put the betta(s) in a cup (using his old tank water) with a CD on top (to keep him from jumping out) while you clean the tank.

Don't doubt yourself theeyrietrainer. I have owned bettas for a long time now, and do consider myself very knowledgeable of them (like many others telling you "no"). Bettas and guppies are a big no-no. Bettas can snap at anytime. Maybe a male makes a betta-like movement, and BAM, that guppy is a goner. Better safe than sorry.
