Those are some really nice looking fish :D Tank looks nice too. I'm no Cichlid guy, but I was wondering, do all your various species (Wrong term to use?) get along good, so long as they all have there own little hiding places?

I originally was trying to adopt the idea of keeping it a species similar tank, but I have a weak heart for fish in the LFS. I've had absolutely no problems with this tank for at least 5 months straight, and that was when I added the venustus, and OB zebra, that resulted in a pecking order struggle, but didn't really cause much disarray. I've been extremely lucky that the alpha in my tank is my cobalt blue zebra, he's about 7" and has a mouth like a pirahna. He is the calmest alpha I've ever seen, he only chases the other fish when they enter his cave. Until the male Venustus grows some more, I doubt that the their will be any power struggle for dominance. I do get some pecking and nibbling right after I do a water change, it seems to stir them up a bit, that's why my venustus look a lil nibbled, I had just done a water change this morning, and they were arguing with the blue over his cave(he won out as usual). I do have as many caves as I could put together in there, including the castle and tubes, there is around 15 different good hiding spots, and only 10 fish.

edit: Also, my kenyi and labs are a more veggie based diet, so I always have to have spirulina on hand, as well as my regular frozens and pellet food.

Nice looking fish, the venustus are very attractive.

What are those, hamster tubes?

If I were you, I'd move the magnet scraper over to the side of the tank at least, rather than having it in front.

LMAO, quite possibly yes, they probably are hamster tubes, my sister had them in a 30 gallon I adopted from her, and I found the cichlids seems to like it aot.

The magnet scraper actually sits above a rock, and creates another cave that my one peacock hangs out in.

And thank you for the comp on the venustus, they are some of my favorite.

That peacock is looking femaleish to me really. I did a little comparison to my flametail and red peacock. Then my females. Not by color but by fins. At 4 inches he should have a pointed dorsal fin. I am sure there are some exceptions to the rule.

I am not saying you got a female just a possibility. Maybe that hap is so scary, the peacock is trying to keep a feminine figure?

lol, my blue hap is fairly calm, he hangs out with the peacock actually a fair bit. It's my cobalt blue zebra who seems to have a fascination with chasing her around the tank every so often. We've always suspected her to be a female, she's definitely exhibited mating behaviors with my OB zebra, and she was acting out the female part.

I like your setup, Toam. The male venustus looks like quite the specimen!
For some reason the 'Right Side of Tank' and the 'Female Kenyi with babies' pics are only showing up as red Xs for me.

I'd love to see them too if you could get them working (hopefully it's not just my computer...I can see the rest of the pics just fine).
