bichir plus algae eater

will bichirs attack algae eaters? he killed a fish too big for him to eat earlier today, and i wouldn't want him attacking anything else i put in there, and i'm starting to have an algae proglem. the tank has live plants, so those anti-algae things won't work.

Yes.....bichirs will go after anything that they think they can fit down their gullet. I've kept algae eaters of various types with mine but have deliberately avoided the 'pleco' types of cats as there are rumors that they have been known to suck the slime off the bichir's scales and cause problems.

You might consider using snails....which my bichirs don't seem to have the slightest interest in.
