so ive had my bichir (rex) for around 8-9 months now. i know he is at least around a year old now. i got him from a buddy. when my buddy had him he had 2 of them in a 29g tank with oscars. 1 of his bichirs grew fast and big. this one didnt. he grew very slowly. when i acquired him he was around 4". since he has maybe grown an inch, pushing 2". i feed him a good diet. he loves shrimp pellets. around 6 or more months ago i drastically reduced the amount of fish i have in my tank so that it wasnt overstocked anymore. he just wont grow.
my question is why is this and will he really get any bigger? he's healthy and very active and has a hell of a personality so i know there is nothing wrong with him. another reason im asking is for stocking purposes because if he's not going to get any bigger than i think i may get a couple more fish. as it sits right now im probably right around 90-95% fully stocked of fish when they get to their max size which i think max's on them will be bala 12", ars 6", clown pleco 3", yoyo loaches x 3 =18", and bichir 12"
