I dig the Kenyi Cichlid. Beautiful and fun to watch. I started with only one (female) and she was growing fast, so I decided to find her a mate :p I bought the biggest male I could find but it was still smaller than her (she is only about 2" - still a baby). He is about 1 1/2". To tell you the truth I'm not totally sure it's a male. It has some yellow, but is still mostly purple with black stripes. I think the yellow comes out when they grow...

Anyways the problem is that the female chases the smaller male around the tank and he is wimping out and hiding in the plants all the time. Will this continue or will they get along at some point?

ok not by any means am i an expert but i think it might be because the female may have established territory there and would want to keep it. Try moving all the decorations around and make it look like a different tank, that way they're on equal terms to start off with.
