Has anyone heard of a large gourami (looked around 8-9 inches) that looks sort of like a pink kisser without a kisser mouth? Saw one of these in the lfs today, had a sign up...I can't remember the name other than it started with an "O." How big a tank would you need for an 8-9 inch gourami?
The true gourami, Osphronemus goramy, reaches a length of 2 ft (60 cm). It originated in Indonesia, but has been introduced in China and S Asia, where it is cultivated as an important food fish.
That really would be great in a 300 some odd gallon tank. Or an indoor heated pond...might be cheaper. This one is very definately pink...maybe it will yellow up as it ages?
They have a fully grown one of these at Sea World in the FW aquarum. It is huge (I'm pritty sure it was even bigger than 2 ft). Nice looking fish, they keep it with some large pacu.
