Bijou the Hamster

Not a fish so I hope it is okay to post this. She was our senior citizen hamster. We found her dead this morning. We knew she was getting kind of feeble so it was not unexpected but I can't believe I cried more than the kids did. When my husband brought her and $75 worth of hamster stuff home four years ago, I was kind of mad. She turned out to be so sweet and fun. You just couldn't help loving her. When we wore shirts with pockets she loved to ride around in our pockets with her little head poking out. We will really miss our sweet little Bijou!

*sniff sniff* I feel your pain, when my friends hamster died I was hurt because she would sit in your hands and you can rock her and then she will nibble on your fingers. I'm sorry on what happened, I hope you recover your loss.

Sorry for your loss I have a hamster right now and he is just a cute fluffball. He knows when I'm about to play with him because when I walk over by his cage he immediatly wakes up and runs the to door of the cage. They have great personalities if you play with them often. Sorry

Sorry for your loss! Bijou sounded like a little doll baby

I had mice. They really tug at your heartstrings. I had a group of them living in a 20 gallon long tank with so many tiny toys. Mousie and her 6 daughters! I rescued her from a glue trap. I had her for 4 years too. She actually turned white as she grew older. She was such a good Mama and protected her babies even as adults watching over them and washing their faces. When they died one by one from old age. They placed the body in a mouse funneral. They covered her with green hay and surrouded the little lifeless form with peanuts-unshelled which was very hard for them to do since they loved to eat their nutty treats. On Mousie's last day she slept right on top of the cave where her daughters slept, still motherly watching over but breathing heavy. She passed away right by them under one of the wheels-her favorite past time. Her daughters hardly came out to interact for two weeks.

So whenever you find a mouse in your house, please trap it humanely and let him or her go, do it for Mousie
