i recently changed over to a penguin bio-wheel, from a whisper-type HOB filter... the water seems to have a ton on very very tiny air bubbles (i think... something very tiny circulating) which makes the water seem a bit cloudy... in fact when the filter is shut off, there are streaks, that look like smoke within the water... do the bio-wheels aerate the water very well or is this something else? and is there a way to make it not do this?

I have the same problem too. But I think this might be natural, but don't take my word for it. My fish don't seem to be complaining. I think it is aerating the water because it is making a couple of waves in there. I too wonder the same thing is this natural (and damn this thing is water sensitive, I have to top of my tank every other day)

Yep...after time, the bubbles will stop. To help limit them now, make sure your water level is high enough so when the filter empties back into the tank, it is very close to the waterline...eliminates splashing and the creation of bubbles.
