My bio-wheel is making a click-click noise every few seconds. It is still filtering fine, though. Is this normal?

I dunno... the Marineland literature says that if the bio-wheel has trouble turning, that's ok, but it doesn't mention anything about a clicking noise. I might email them and see what they think. If it's really bothering you though, I'm remember reading about about some sort of bushing that the bio-wheel turns on that you should be able to replace. Again, I'm just making a guess, but that's probably what's making the noise, since that's what the bio-wheel turns on. ?

Well its brand new. I have only been using it for about 3 days. I didn't hear the noise until about 8 this morning. I haven't given it much though since I posted. Now that I have come back to check on some other things I notice it has stopped. So whatever it was it has taken care of itself. Thanks though. Will keep the bearings in mind for the future.

Often it's the water in the wheel that's making the noise, especially if it's new and isn't slimy just yet.
echoofformless is right. It has a tendency to form a big bubble between the bio-wheel and the exit trough. When the bubbles bursts, it makes sort of a clicking sound. Look at it close and see if you see a big bubble. On some models, you may have to remove the filter cartridge to see the bubble.
