black mithrax crab?(need help ID'ing)

today while unpacking my corals, i found what looked like a black mithrax crab hitchhiking along the hairy mushroom rock

i managed to snap a very blurry pic of em before he found a crevice in the rock

yea there are such things as black mithrax crabs, brown too. can't really tell by the pic but if it looks like a mithrax then yea it probably is.

I hope it's not a gorilla crab. They're not good for a reef tank.

They can apparently be much darker than the one in the pic, but I don't know much about them, other than they're bad hitchhikers.

well it was a very dark black crab, and it had a smooth "body" and hairy looking legs... ill see if i cant wrassle it up and stick it in QT


EDIT:
so i was looking at the shroom rock just now, and noticed 2 other types of crabs... i so i just removed the whole frag rock

the rock has lots of hiding crevasses will a high salinity bath work on a mushroom frag rock or will it do more harm than good for getting the crab off of the rock

I have 2 redish colored ones. I agree that if they look like a mithrax they most likely are.
