I see little black bumps on my minnows and sunfish. They are located on or near the fins and are <<1mm in diameter, and hardly protrudes from the skin at all (I had to stare at my minnow for a good five minutes to see it did in fact stick out). I was wondering:

>if this is something that can/will kill my fish
>will it infect the Java Moss in my tank (I mean if I release the fish into the wild, change the water and then put tropical fish in, will they get it from the moss)

they're parasites. it's called black spot disease. (Neascus is the name of the parasite.) i wouldnt worry about it. in the cyst stage, they're completly harmless. there's no cure, but it wont hurt your fish or spread through your tank. almsot all the fish i've ever kept have 'em.
