Blue Acara and friends?

In making the short step from coldwater to tropical I am contemplating a new 30 gallon unplanted tank with Blue Acara, Rosy Barbs and Bronze Corys. I am aware that this breaks a few "rules" and would appreciate your views on how the Acara will take to their new friends. Also how many of each would you start with, given that I'd take young fish rather than adults.

I think this might well work ok . How many Blue Acara - if you get a pair, you might have some hassles though nothing too spectacular. I had a mated pair I kept in a 'Large Community' and they were nice fish. If a pair forms (likely if you put in 4 or 5) you'll want to remove the others
