I've had 2 long fin blue danios for about 6 months now. Just recently, the one has gotten very skinny, while the other stays plump and fit. Is it a disease or a case of him not getting enough food? He eats witht he other fish and seems to be healthy, but the skinniness is worrying me!

You know, I have a SAE that is also very skinny. he has been this way for at least a year. All of the others are fat and I always make sure he gets food, but to no avail. I recently moved the group to a bigger tank. He gained a little weight, but is still skinny. I would love to hear what people think. Otherwise he acts normal. Is it possible some just aren't as dominant and the stress causes them to be thinner?

It's possible that what you're seeing is a male danio. The females are plump, while the males are much more streamlined. If he's eating and acting normally, and hanging out with the other danios, I wouldn't worry.

If his stomach looks sunken, it's time to worry, as it indicates internal parasites or other problems.
