blue gourami tank mate

Hello all. I have a 29 gal. which contains one aggressive blue gourami and one yellow snail. I had some zerba danios in the tank but I believe the bg hassased them to death. He is definitely the king of the tank! Any suggestions as to what I could put in the tank with him that wouldn't take any of his attitide? Thanks.

What about giant danios or tiger barbs? Both of those should be able to hold their own. For the bottom, maybe a red tailed or rainbow shark.

My black skirt tetras don't take anything off my opaline, which I believe is a color morph of the blue (pls correct me if necess.). However, I can't really say that I recommend them for the reason that they tend to nip each other (I have a school of eight) so their fins always look bitten up.

How about some type of cichlid? Like a kibensis or a convict? My water pH is on the high side anyway. 8.2-8.4
