Blue Lobster

So are these guys 'naturally' blue, or are they treated with a dye to become that colour.

ANd is there more of a 'techical' name for them, other than their species name or is it just 'blue lobster'

SOrry i just find them very interesting and my girlfriend just picked one up for me for my 10g tank that I have. I was wondering what else I could put in the tank with it? if anything at all. And what kind of decorations are best for it.

I had the guy in a plastic bag in my 55g tank where my red bellied pirhanna was, (while I was setting the other tank up) and the damn prihana took a bite out of the bag, you could see its lill bite marks, Anyways.

I was thinking of getting one of those clay pots say from Canadian Tire or Home Depot or wherever and putting it in there as well

I have a 'rock' in there as well as a decorative 'volcano' that I had to fill up because the damn guy went inside of it. Anyways going off on a story here, any suggestions, help, and ideas would be greatly appreciated. =)

there are lots of different species. it is important to know the name so yu can do research and find which environment is best suited. most do best as species only, with fake plants, because they have a habit of munching on tank buddies, and getting munched on. they also may dig up and eat live plants.

also, they are not lobsters. petshops only call them that to make them sound exotic.

Oh really so no live plants at all?

I might ask my LFS where I bought them the species name etc... and find out what if any plants I can add in there

Is there anything I should do to prep the pot or just run it under some water and get the dust off of it etc... ?

I just ask becuase the decorative volcano is his hideout right now....

And I'm just wondering if I put that in there, mighnt give him a cave like structure

yeah, they like the pots. you should probably rinse it off first. some people have horrible luck with plants, some peoples crays are just fine. when you find out the species do research to see if it is adiging species, if it is, look forward to it re-arranging your tank.
