Hello,
I got a blue panaque pleco over the weekend. I am wondering if anyone of you know whether or not they like algae or not? And if not, do you know what they do like to eat? I have tried searching on the net but haven't really found much about them. I just don't want it to die of starvation! Thanks for your reply..

Yeah, I have already searched that website...no information about it except the L number. In fact, that was about the most informative website that I found on this pleco...and it wasn't much at all. When I bought it, the lfs had L-232 but on that website (and others) it can be L239 also. I just can't seem to find any significant information about them.

I also just bought a spotted raphael catfish. Do you know if they will take care of algae like a pleco does or not?

Thanks for the information...

You really have to do a search on planetcatfish and get the forum threads, that's about all the info there is online about them. There is quite a bit there, though.

There is plenty of info out there on raphael catfish. I don't believe they eat algae.

I'd start by working out if it really is a panaque, and then have a look at it's dentition if you can. However if it IS a true panaque you can be pretty sure it's a herbivore and will also require some driftwood to chew on.

Yes, it definitely is a blue panaque, L-239 Go to planetcatfish.com and look under L-239, looks exactly like that one. Thanks for your reply...yes, I have driftwood in my tank, so hopefully that will help it feel at home (and less hungry..haha)....

Thanks!
