I just bought a BlueFlame Tetra and can't find any info about it.  It was the only one they had, so it's not in a school but is doing super with a pile of head and tail tetra's, black widows, glowlights, tiger barbs...  Should I hunt down a couple more anyway?   I'd like to know anything I could.

I've heard of Blue Columbian tetras before and Blue Tetras, and have even seen them, but have never heard/seen anything called a Blue Flame tetra.

Blue Columbian Tetras are a round tetra that are an opaque shimmery red/silver/blue with yellow and red on their fins. They have the tall, flag-like dorsal fins, and can get pretty large. They're pretty hardy and look great as a fish to offset red serpaes or silvery purple diamonds.

Blue tetras are elongated in shape and are more of a blush blue color on a white background. They kinda remsemble blue bloodfin tetras, but blue tetras have no red fins.  From my experiences these blue tetras are as delicate as penquine tetras, sometimes they're good, sometimes they're not, and they always go belly up without a reason.

The only flame tetra I am familiar with are the red Von Rios.

If you could post a picture, that might help. None of my books here have anything on blue tetras at all.

Although your "blue tetra" sounds like it is doing absolutely Fishulous, I think you might want to get a few more anyway.  Tetras lack something of their natraul behavior when they aren't with others.  I would like to know what this blue flame tetra is, do you know the scientific name for it?  I can't find any mention of a "blue flame" online either

It's Blue w/ vibrant red fins.  About the same size as the black widow tetra.  I've looked on fishbase and that's a site that has practically every species!

I can't post a pic, but I can guarantee it's not dyed.  The guy I bought it from is a hard core fish nut.  I've seen him chew out a nice lady who was buying something for the little fish (minnows?) her kids caught in the lake.  He almost made her cry for letting her kids take fish out of the lake and put them in an aquarium.  And he wouldn't even sell you goldfish unless your have an aquarium and filter, NO BOWLS!  I'll keep looking for a pic on the net.  But I don't have a camera.

Sheesh, what a hard @$$. He aught to know thats how a lot of us got started, keeping wild caught fish that is. I remember going to check out the mosquito fish and minnows that my grandparents had put in their horse trough. I might yell at the lady for puting aquarium fish into the lake, but not taking the bait home and trying to have it in an aquarium. Heaven forbid her kids wanting to catch a caterpiller and watch it make a cacoon.

The second picture didn't load, but yes it is the first one, yellow eye and all.  Mine looks a million times better though.  What's his scientific name?
