So, I am deciding on what ultimately will go in my son's 29gal and in my 55gal and I have decided that I want at least one pair of rams (only one pair per tank, I realize that). I like both the Bolivian butterflies and the German blues/golds. I've read that the Bolivian butterflies are hardier than the GBRs. Is this accurate? I talked to my LFS about both and she seemed to think the GBRs would be much easier to get than the Bolivian butterflies. I don't want to order online because all the places I've checked won't guarantee sex and I definitely want a pair. So, thoughts/opinions? This won't be for several months.
As of right now, the stocking list on the 29gal is this:
1x male betta (still be staying in there)
5x platies (will be staying in there)
4x male guppies (will be staying in there)
2x otos (will be moving to the 55gal once it's set up)
1x USD cat (will be moving to the 55gal once it's set up)
I also want about four or five pygmy cories in the 29gal.
As for the 55gal, it will be stocked as follows:
8x female bettas
6x neon tetras
6x flame/von rio tetras
5x otos
5-6x panda or skunk cories
3x USD cats
(possibly a B/N pleco if kENNY's decide to spawn)
Both tanks are/will be moderately planted, have DW and river rocks and sand substrate.
