Bolivian Rams are really cool.... Microphagus altispinosa is the latin name. you can actually find a lot in a google search... here's the best info i've found so far:

Thanks for the link keprydak.....that helps alot.   I'm thinking of a 29gal. with two good size angels maybe 3 Bolivian Rams, 1male and 2female, if I can sex them?  Maybe a raphael striped catfish???  I've got 3 of these in my 55.  Any suggestions or comments???????

I agree.  They may not be as popular as the blue or gold, but the do have their own appeal.  The ones at lfs are a pearly lt gold color and have very bright red on tips of fins.  They have a really cool face, this  may sound crazy, but thats what attracts me to ciclids to begin with. :D ;)

The ones you are talking about are probably Ruby Crowns. That's what is at my LFS right now too. Before you buy them, ask them if you can watch them feed, then pick the most vivacious of the group. ASk them to feed them daphnia - the ones where I work won't take flake.
