I had a pleco but it produced way too much waste so I got rid of him. My 55g is placed in my livingroom away from natural sunlight. Is it worth getting a "bottomfeeder." What do they usually do?

I do know I have waste sitting at the bottom, but I'm sure there are no fishes that will "clean" that. Thats what vaccuming is for.

you could maybe get a few cories or otos. another possibility would be loaches if theyre compatible with the fish you have now. what fish are there in the tank?

No, you don't need a bottom dweller. You're completely right, cleaning the tank is your job, not your pets' job.

i wouldnt put bottomfeeders other than plecos with aggressive cichlids

bottomfeeders are usually used to eat any uneaten food from the bottom of the tank so that it doesn't spoil the water.

Well, I "use" my bottomfeeders as entertainment. They are my favorite fish in the tank .

I've also heard that they will stir up some of the waste on the bottom so the filter will suck up more.
