I was just wondering.

What does everyone here think of bowfront tanks?

Are they a pain in in the butt to clean on this inside of the glass because of the huge "roundess" ?

Are they an eyesore to look at when viewing your fish?

I don't have a bowfront tank although they do look pretty nice. I may get a mini nano bowfront tank once I go to college which is in 4 years. Other than they their are just as same as any other tank but bow out in the front.

cleaning bow-fronts is the same as cleaning any tank - but fish viewing can look a bit "odd" - not horrid - just "odd"

the ones that are bowed all the way across don't seem so bad - but the ones that start straight and then bow in the middle are a bit weird

on the plus side, they make for "deep" tanks width ways

kinda personal - but I like them

I like them too. I was thinking of getting one eventually. I have had my eye on a 46 for some time now. If I had the money and the space I would probably already own it. But already have four tanks, unemployed and an apartment dweller kind of ruins that thought for awhile.

i have a 46 bow and love it. it is not hard to maintain, it amplifies the fish just a tad i think, and it really stands out. compare this with my 40gal stretch hex which is also easy to clean, does not amplify the fish but does give an interesting effect to the environment, and is a lovely addition to my den.

I have a 46 bow stand, does that count?

I think the bowfront design is neat, allows more interesting aquascaping and more front swimming room for fish like rainbows or angels.

I like the tanks a lot but i think it distorts your view a little. On the other hand i would sacrifice not being able to see the exact size of a fish for a bow front tank anyday so.

I also have a bow front and love them. My tank is very heavily planted and it has been great because the tank is so deep. Some angles are tough though. It is often tough to see the back of the tank without distortion. Also when planting or placing be sure to use the view from above and not through the bow because you will miss by a couple of inches everytime!!!! Overall great tanks. They look great in the house and are perfect for viewing. Cleaning is the same. I just finished cleaning the front of the tank. It is the exact same as regular tanks.
