I have a female convict and I have her in a 10 gallon . I have read posts of people using 10 gallons to breed but most suggest larger. My question is what size of male should I get? My lfs has one but he's twice her size. Any help is appreciated
Yep even tho he is 2 X her size , that is pretty normal. The female tend to be smaller from being breed early(at least I heard). In my pair Mom was about 2 inches and Dad about 4 before I broke them up.
I think u wont hv any serious prob with a big male - small female pair. But i do feel that the tank size is too small. A min of 20 gal should fit a breeding pair. Convicts forms pairs very easily and males are generally bigger than females.
Thanx to all for the advice. I went to my lfs today and the male convict's fins look pretty tattered. Daisy my female is in pristine condition, greens, blues and gold shimmering all over her. I think I will wait for a healthier looking male.
