I have a breeding tank with two mollies in it. One male, one female. They have been together for EVER and the female still isn't pregnant! The male always chases the female and appears to be mating her. Why hasn't she gotten pregnant?

Oh, and this is my last female, so I can't put any other females in there. Should I trade out the smaller male for the larger one? The one in with her now is the same size as her, and the one in the other tank is like a 1/2 inch larger.

What size is what you call a breeding tank? I will bet if it is less than 10 g they are eating them as they are born - and she really doesn't have to look very fat to drop a few fry every now and them. I had two in a 10g and although the females were as big as walnuts - only 3 fry survived.

I'm not sure. I got it from the goodwill... It looks slightly smaller than my 10g. So what can I do to ensure babies?

The first time I had babies, three mollies gave birth in a 10 gal with a bunch of other and hardly any decor, but I still ended up with over 35!

Surely you can measure the tank and figure the cubic inches and divide by 231 (cu inches per gallon) And you were lucky with your fry - it doesn't always work like that

Okay, its Length X width X Height = Cubic Inches (be sure all measurements are in inches) then divide that number by 231 (which is the number of cubic inches in a gallon) There your math lesson for the day.

Math works on Sunday just like any other day - I don't know what you mean by curved. How about a picture? Is just the front curved? If so you have a bow front. I got to thinking and my 2.5g tank that I use to use could look very much like a 10g tank to someone that doesn't have experience and practice with concepts.
