hi i have 2 cory catfish and i want to breed them. also i was wondering if it can be done in a comunity tank 40gal? and i think the way u sex them is that the male is wider then the female who is skinny.

I think the eggs will be eaten in a community tank as there's no parental care. Also it will be difficult to do the enviromental changes needed to provoke spawning. Get yourself a 10 gallon kit from Walmart or somewhere cheap and make it a lot easier

depends on the cory and also you cant be sure you got a matched pair i would buy 6 more if you want to breed them
when one gets fat with egs move her and 3 males to a planted tank where they can be alone

most people mess with the water levels but i know some people who just eneded up with 2 times as many corys without trying to breed them

but yeah being in a breeding tank will be alot more helpfull

I definately agree on having them in a separate tank. I was thinking about doing the same thing, and I've heard that they are about as easy as guppies to breed. I will have to have more room and tanks to do it though. Also I am pretty sure that it is the female that is wider than the male.

i always thought the female was the plumper one. u better check that out before breeding them.

also what species of corys do u have?

I would suggest putting them in a separate tank at with 2 males and 1 female. also addind cooler water may encourage them to breed.
