brine shrimp hatcher thing

Alright i bought a brine shrimp hatchery thing from my pet store tonight and it didn't say anything about adding salt to the water like saltwater that i add to my tank is it safe? i mean i know you feed them in SW tanks but the hatchery thing can you add SW in that?

The Brine shrimp need Salt water to hatch. What type did you buy. If you got the kinda that I did my SF Bay Hatchery then it have little packets that have salt in with the Eggs.

You don't even need real salt mix. I used mineral salt (the ones you use as a stress reducer and also said to improve fish gill function). It came in real handy when my fish were battling ich.

ahh maha thx yea there SF bay brand it came with a square thing to hook the bottle to and 3 packs of eggs and once you said that i looked and it said eggs and salt just add water... lol so then this is all right Thanks guys! hopfuly tomorrow or the next day i get some babys

Hey i have a question about them it says i need a light 8" from the bottum what type of lighting do you use on it?

I didnt use a light dont remeber reading about one I will have to get it out and look tomorrow.

yea at less mine said that and it also said to store the eggs in the refrigerator untill ready to hatch more brine shrimp

Woops, Havent Stored in fridge. I will get mine out tomorrow to hatch some. I know that Brine Shrimp are attracted to light and it is easire to collect them when there is a light on one side. The live ones will swim to it. I used a syringe(sp?) to suck them then spit them into my tanks.

lol yea i think i will hopefully my family doesn't get mad when they go to get the milk and find some brine shrimp eggs
i also heard a turkey blaster works well too
