Brown Stuff In Tank

I'm starting to notice brown spots on the inside of the glass of my 55 gallon tank. Is this dirt or algae? They're hard to see from far away but when I come up close I see they're all over the inside glass of the tank.

Yup, that's algae. Brownish/reddish. I have tons of it in my Brackish water tank. Unfortunately there's not really any fish that feed on it, so you just have to rub it off. It comes off really easy though, just get one of those sticks with a sponge on the end type of algae scrapers, the sponge rubs it off quite easily. I have to clean mine up with every water change. Maybe look at other things too, how long your lights are one per day, are you perhaps over-feeding, lots of these things in combination can add up to more aggressive algae growth.

Those algae eater fish won't feed on it? I keep the lights on 11 hours a day because I have a lot of plants.

they are a cute little fish

i used to have algae spots before.....but now i leave my internal filter on 24-7 and have yet to see it
