Not real sure what you mean...
The male will make a decent bubble nest with no females anywhere nearby. I think they have a hormone cycle, and the nest will grow and shrink at different times. You probably want to put the female in sight while the nest is large, or else put her in sight and it will become large. If there is a female in sight, he will keep a good large bubble nest, probably indefinately.
If there is a female in the tank with him, he will attend to the bubble nest while he is giving the female a break, and make sure the bubble nest is fit for eggs. The female shouldn't be in with him unless you are ready to get them to spawn, because he will kill her. After spawning, he will pay lots of attention to the nest and the eggs inside.
