Bubbles, bubbles, bubbles ~ good way to get them

#1
When I was walking around the store the other day I noticed a lot of their tanks had a nice display with air tubing with holes in the top that evenly spaced the bubbles along the back of the tank. I know the benefit is oxygenation of the water.

The back of my tank isn't very long, maybe 8" but I'd like to have a bubble effect from under the gravel area if possible. How difficult is it to set up and is it expensive?

I'd also love to see pics of your tanks and the bubble makers you have.

It's not expensive, but really doesn't do much to oxygenate the water; that is mainly done at the surface. As long as you have surface agitation, the gas exchange will occur. But if you like the look of bubbles, go for it. :)

yeah, just get some bubble tubbing (or bubble wall as it is sometimes called), poke some holes in it, hook it up to your pump and you're good to go. Just make sure you put some suction cups on them and stick them to the glass at the back of the tank or where ever you put it, cause any bottom dwellers can dig them up (which will happen anyway) and move them (they usually won't move when hooked to the glass).

i cant find a good spot for my bubble bar in my 27 gal hex. I wanted to put it all the way on the back panel but its so loud when the bubbles are getting sucked up the intake tube. Got a 4" stone and it looks nice above the gravel but it makes huge bubbles under. I'm starting to dislike this hex tank arrg! :(

have you considered a circular air stone? I have a 4 " dish type thing for my 10 gallon for bubbles works ok. But also try just plain old air stones hooked to the end of the hose... i got two and they work great... better than others i have. I put them inside some seashell decorations i had for tank. Will post pictures next week sometime.
