I am working on varying my o's diet...and i heard that bugs are a good sorce of protein. Now I do not exactly get the concept of this. Do i just go in the garden and take some grubs and clean them and throw them in the tank? Or do i have to buy them or something? Also what is the difference between earthworms and bloodworms? I am not to good at this whole "bug" concept but i will do anything for my O. Also do u think a green terror would eat the bugs 2? My o is about 9 inches and my green terror is about 4-5 inches

any large carnivorous cichlid will eat bugs. you should be able to buy crickets and other bugs at pet stores that sell reptile supplies. here you can get about 12 crickets for a $1. i used to buy crickets for my jackson chameleon before he died...:( too hot where i live for them. its not an everyday food though, treat it like a treat, plunk em in one at a time and watch your oscar hunt em!

if you buy alot of crickets you can breed them so you dont have to buy them all the time. put them in a 5gal bucket with 1-2 inches of dirt followed by 3-4 inches of leaves and grass clippings(underbrush for the crickets to hide in). put in some apple or orange slices and some lettuce for them to eat, and a little saucer of water for them to drink, and change them 2-3 times a week. put a screen lid on the top, and maybe keep them outside due to the smell and noise crickets make.:D
