cabinet and tank size

Can anyone see a tragedy arising from using a cabinet with a 29 3/4 long top with a tank that is 36 inches long?

well...other than that the ends of the tank wont be supported and the seals will burst, glass will crack, and water will pour everywhere, i don't envision a problem

I tend to agree. You'll have all of the weight on the ends pulling on the glass bottom which will indeed cause the little problem 1979camaro is talking about. If you dont have a full scale eruption, it will almost surely cause some leakage issues; which are not good near the bottom of a tank...

Wouldn't do it, myself.

Thanks. That's what i thought would happen. Walmart has a great deal on a 29 gallon stand, but the tank I want to buy is 33 gallons.

If I add a 1/4 inch board cut to the proper size., it should be ok?

Never allow any overhang of the tank, even a board of the correct size on a smaller stand will create stresses that never end well. Your better off building your own stand or saving for one that truly fits your tank.
