I do not have any corals, but I read that Kalk or calcium additions will help the growth of coraline algae. How much and how frequently would I have to add this? Can I add it without the doser thinger?

without testing and knowing what your calcium is at now there is no point to be randomly adding it. Also by adding calcium you could potentially through things out of wack in the balance of alk and so on. And if you add to much it will just percipitate out and become a waste (or percipititate out as bicarbonate...)

anyways in a couple of month, you'll start seeing coralline everywhere without help of additives. At first i had like one little purple dot on a rock...yay. I freaked out. Now i have everywhere, it's almost annoying to scrape it from the glass or powerhead intakes. Anyways, don't worry man it's part of the process. Also what Occfan says is right.
