Can a fluval 404 be placed on its side?

I guess drawers was the wrong word for it. They are more like shelves. My 135 gallon tank is supported by three layers of bee hive boxes with plywood on top of them. The boxes are on the floor with a sheet of plywood on top, then another set of boxes with plywood, etc. I could probably have set it up with one of the sheets of plywood cut in the middle but the tank is set up and full now. I don't want to try cutting the plywood in place for obvious reasons. It looks a bit homely now but it was basically free. My dad was a bee keeper and the boxes are very stable. My wife is working on a curtain to go around it. At least she said she would, its been a while though. I better remind her.

if shes gonna make a skirt just put the filer on the one end and wrap the skirt around it. im sure you would hardly notice it and it would make for easy access.. btw i have a 304 and if im not mistaken in the instructions it says to keep it upright...
