My neighbors fan is off balance and there is an audible humm in my apartment. The fan is in the room below my 50 gal. I would imagine this is very bad for the fish but can't do much about it. Mentioned it to neighbor already. Fish in that tank are dying and colors are faded. Added some stress coat and will check parameters tonight. Tank has been set up for about a year and healthy. Minor change in fish stock - took out 5" common pl*co and added a small dwarf pl*co but no other changes. SOME of the fish had nip marks and I am wondering if it leporinus fasciatus for some of the deaths. But some had no marks and colors are faded on most. Ideas ????

I don't think it would bother the fish, but it would bother me. I would go down there and tell them to shove that fan up their a$$.
You might have another problem in your tank though if the colors on the fish are faded. When I get up and turn the lights on the fish tanks, my tiger barbs colors are faded, but then they brighten to normal after about 10 min.

I think when the fan first came on and disturbed the fish they were probably stresed but after being on for a while i would think they would get used to it

Weirdness. Did a partial water change which I religously do once a week, added the powerhead which had been broken and was replaced on no deaths. All happy now. Leporinus fasciatus was so happy that he launched his whole five inches out of the tank and onto the floor. Fortunately he couldn't have been there for more than a few minutes. Scooped him up and after a period of schock he is fine. Weird tank this week.
