Hi Guys,

I just found a recently abandoned 15L Biorb tank in the trash... I set it up. All works perfectly... But I'm gunna need to change the filter. Is it possible to simply rinse out the filter chamber, the mesh, and replace the filter media with new carbon chips?

Cheers and THANKS!!

Yes, you can do that. I'm not sure what you mean by "the mesh" - if it is like a sponge I'd replace that too.

If you want to be extra cautious since you don't know the history of the filter, you can soak it in some diluted bleach, rinse well, and then soak it for a few minutes in water with a little extra dechlorinator in it (the dechlorinator will break down any remaining bleach).

If you are unsure of the filter you can buy new ones rather inexpensively, which might be a good Idea if it had been in the trash. There might have been a good reason it was thrown away after all...
