Can My Betta Help Cycle New Tank?

Greetings All- I had my Betta in a 30g tank with a blacky molly and two tetras. everyone is getting along fine. i noticed a deep scratch/crack in the tank that I became concerned about and returned it.

My new tank comes in next week. I am planning on transferring all the contents of the 30g tank (gravel, plants, filter, etc) to the new tank. According to the testing results of the 'holding' tank, everything is cycled.

Can I put my Betta in this new tank when it comes in? Or should i wait a few days until I can confirm that everything is cycled?

When you return your tank does that include the filter???

Nope. I just returned th glass tank. The filter (biowheel 200) is being used in the 'holding' tank.

Your filter should hold all the bacteria that you need. You may go through a mini cycle but you should be just fine.

so the betta 'theoretically' should not have any issues being in this 'new' tank. thanks for the help!

Yeah fishgeek is right. i had a betta and it went throw the 8 week cycle easily and it's living healthy and well

ive used my bettas for that exact purpose
