Can POP/SODA Co2 Canisters Be used for Planted tanks?

I know lots of bar owners with extra CO2 tanks for their fountain drinks, if those could be used I am sure I can get one for less than 20 Bucks, and then throw a regulator on it and maybe a selenoid, and I'd be set.

well there are 2-3 grades of co2 canisters,
hospital being the top
restaurant/bar being at the bottom
the difference is the amount of liquid at the bottom of the cannisters...
in an ideal world there would be none....but we deal with it and move on.

bar/restaurant co2 is fine. I get mine from my fathers bar and it works fine. I believe they get it free so I have 2 40lb tanks at my house.

I bought a solenoid and regulator online for around 120-140ish for xmas

Is there any thing special I should know abot that liquid in the bottom, like only let the tank get to 3/4 or something like that before I fill it.
