Hey all I was wondering if anyone ever had there sand bed turn green. Kind of looks like diatoms but there brown and I'm pass that stage. Any ideas?

My sand just started turning green and purle is some spots, I assumed it was coraline though

you shouldn't get coraline growing on your sand. If you have algae on the sand it may be cyano....which isn't always red it can be green or blue green. Increase your flow, reduce the amount you are feeding and remove as much as you can during water changes....you may also want to do a few water changes to reduce any nitrates or phosphates in the water.
