Canisters or Power Filters??? Please View!!

I dont know the difrerence between a canister and regular filter. Which one is better for a 60 gallon. With an oscar and a Jack. How does a canister work.

A canister for sure on a 60 gal if you have plants.

id get power filters, jacks and oscars produce alot of waste so your gonna want lots of power, while canister are much better at filtering, power filters can provide lots of power for a fraction of the price, id get 2 aquaclear 500s

I have a 55 with cichlids and a few TB - I have a Rena Filstar XP2 canister (I used the ceramic cylinders for Bio filtration) and a Bio-Wheel Pro 60 - got to love those bio-wheels.
I added the bio-wheel just to add some ump. The tank has been up since last summer with just the XP2. If you decide to go canister - you should check out these Filstar canisters. Much less expensive then you would think, very quiet and easy to clean. I got my XP2 from BigAls for $75

Fluval all the way. Cant hear it, once it is setup it is a breeze to maintaine.

I imply both on almost any moderate to larger tank. Each has their advantage, power filters are better for cichlids cuz u need that power.
