Hi:
I need desperatly information maybe somebody in this forum can help me. I have a well established tank for approx. 3 1/2 years. I have not had a problem in this tank. About a week ago almost from one day to the other my oldest pearl gourami died. He stopped being active about two days ealier with no signs of desease, stopped eating and died just a view hours later. Only thing that bothered me was that shortly before he died his eyes were very cloudy he looked almost like he was blind. However I thought it might been his age since he was in there almost since the beginning. About 5 days later the second gourami showed the same symtoms. He was very inactive stopped eating and died in a very short amount of time. I purchased him about a year later. My PH, Armonia and everything else is reading perfect conditions. Now I am afraid I have a problem in the tank. I have two very beautiful Angels and a shark in there which are very large. I don't want to loose more fish. Any ideas????

Sorry to hear about your gouramis :(

Have you added anything new to the tank in the last month? Fish/plants? I would guess that it's some kind of internal bacterial infection, but, of course, it's hard to say as there weren't really any symptoms other than the cloudy eye. A cloudy eye can be symptoms of eye flukes or a nutritional deficiency. The eye flukes are unlikely to cause death.

If you see any kind of symptoms in other fish, I would probably recommend a course of Maracyn I and II, but even that is just guessing.
