I realize this is SO basic, but no algae scrubber that I've tried can get the algae off of the aquarium glass. My 75 gal. saltwater tank has been balanced for a lot of months, but I keep having that same problem. Is it possible to use a razor blade to scrape off the algae in a marine tank???
Are you talking about coralline algae? If not, your scraper might be the problem because most work just fine. I also find that if I press a little harder on it as I move it, it works better.
you can try a credit card i actually found a algae scrapper with a metal blade i think its made by "kent" but im not sure... like i said tho a credit card should do the trick!
First of all if your tank is glass I would go the metal scraper route, if it is acrylic then you have no choice but to use a credit card or plastic scraper as you don't' want to scratch the acrylic. Good luck!
Once you've cleaned it off, using a MagFloat, or other magnetic cleaner a couple of times a week will help keep the coraline off the glass. You'll still need to scrape, but it does help.
u can pick up a razor scraper with 5" razor blades and 12" handle for about 10 bucks at a hardware store. usually they are aluminum so no worry for rust and replacement blades are realy cheap. I use the same blade for nearly 3 months at a time myself.
