Carbon Filter or no carbon?

Ok I am going to get a BioWheel 100 for my 20 gal. and was wondering if I put clay gravel in to provide minerals should take the carbon out of the filters since carbon is sponge for minerals?

if you are worried about your plants suffering due to the carbon, then take the carbon out. But do make sure that your platn growth is sufficient to deplete the nitrates from the water. Carbon can help keep a tank with poor water quality, but if you have good water quality, then carbon is basically useless. I use carbon very infrequently in my tanks.

Sweet! Thanx! 1 question though, if carbon filters nitrates then dosent that mess with the bacterial filter? maybe im confused
