catching a fish

any ideas on how to catch a platy? I have a 20 gallon tank with a good amount of rocks, and I dont want to disturb the rockwork.

Other then trying to lure the fish out with food, anyone have any methods worth trying?

Drain all but a few inches of water. Much easier to catch a fish when it doesn't have a large volume of water to swim in.

i agree that its much easier, however he just sits behind the rocks on the sand so however much water i dump out probably wouldnt affect him moving. He comes out sometimes, but once the net goes in he darts to his hiding spot.

Block the path to the hiding place perhaps?

You can also try to make a DIY fish trap with a plastic bottle. If you have other fish in the tank you don't want to catch, it may take awhile if the others get 'trapped' instead.
